Land Rover have provided a UK jobs boost after confirming production of its new Land Rover Discovery Sport will take place at it Halewood plant.

The Merseyside facility is already home to the production of the Range Rover Evoque, and with the addition of the Land Rover Discovery Sport a further 250 jobs will be created.

That will take the Halewood workforce up to a total of 4,750, three times its 2010 level.  In that time Jaguar Land Rover have invested half-a-million pounds in the facility, £200m of which was spent to prepare the site for the introduction of the Discovery Sport.

A delighted Richard Esle, Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood Operations Manager said of the Discovery Sport: "Its arrival has been a further boost to the region and to our committed and loyal workforce who are all passionate ambassadors for this great company".

The Land Rover Discovery Sport, the first model in an all-new Discovery range, will go on sale next year.
