The new release is claimed to be the most capable and versatile compact SUV in the world.
The focus has been on maximising internal space whilst maintaining the footprint size of existing competitor SUVs. The 5 + 2 seating set up features tilt and slide row-two seats in order to give the greatest level of interior level configurability and the all new 8 inch touch screen will give the interior the level of technology demanded by all premium customers.
“Our challenge has been to combine premium design with exceptional versatility; the two attributes must work in harmony,” said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer.
“I’m proud to say we’ve achieved that; Discovery Sport’s dynamic design will resonate on an emotional level with consumers, and this vehicle is more versatile than any other premium compact SUV on the market.”
From its day of launch, the new Discovery Sport will carry a powerful 2.2 litre SD4 turbo diesel engine producing 190 PS and featuring stop-start technology, high-pressure direct injection, low-friction internal components and smart regenerative charging for improved economic performance. Both 9-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions are available.
The new model will be available from January 2015 alongside the current 7 seater Discovery.
