Lamborghini's Gallardo is getting a bit long in the tooth.
Back when it was introduced in 2003, its main rival was the Ferrari 360 -- a car which has been out of production for seven whole years.
And because of its advancing years, it's now fairly comprehensively thrashed by the far superior Ferrari 458, a car which was a mere twinkle in the eye of a Ferrari engineer when the Gallardo went into production.
Lambo's baby is due for replacement soon, but before it shuffles off to the big scrapyard in the sky, the Italian firm has given it a touch of nip-tuck surgery to keep it looking young and fresh.
This is sensible thinking on Lamborghini's part as the Gallardo is by far and away the best-selling model the company has ever produced, with over 13,000 models rolling off the production lines since 2003.
The changes are largely cosmetic and consist of larger front air intakes, new 19-inch wheels and a host of new colour options. The 543bhp, 5.2-litre V10 nestling under the Gallardo's angular bodywork remains unaltered.
So, is the Gallardo's freshened exterior a fitting send-off to one of the greatest cars of the past decade, or is it a facelift too far?
