Kia is recalling more than 7,000 UK cars due to a possible fault with the vehicles' seatbelt pre-tensioners.
In all, 5,787 Sportage and 1,432 Soul models are being recalled over concerns that some pre-tensioners may not work properly due to a faulty piston within the mechanism.
The manufacturer is quick to point out that it is not aware of any injuries resulting from the possible fault.
Kia has announced it will contact all affected owners and arrange for their cars to be fixed at the nearest Kia dealership. The repair will be free of cost and will take between one and two hours.
Cars affected include Sportage models built at the company's Zilina, Slovakia factory between October 2011 and November 2012, and Soul vehicles built at Kwangju in Korea between August 2011 and March 2012. The new Soul, which we reviewed last month, is not affected.
Any owners concerned about the issue can also contact Kia's customer service centre on 0800 015 8757.
