Kia’s Rio 1.1 CRDi EcoDynamics has gained significant environmental recognition from Business Car Manager for its low CO2 emissions.
The car's CO2 outputs are as low as 85g/km, making the model the most eco-friendly, non-electric vehicle in the UK.
The 'Best sub-100g/km Business Car' award was handed to Kia at the recent Business Car Manager 'Best Business Car 2012' Awards.
All variants of the model are exempt from road tax and the London Congestion Charge, as they come under the 100g/km threshold.
Ralph Morton, Editor of Business Car Manager, commented on the triumph:
"Any Kia Rio is a good car - but the EcoDynamics version is a champion. It returns a staggering 88mpg and emits just 85g/km of CO2 thanks to a punchy and characterful 1.1-litre three-cylinder diesel engine."
"As well as those cheap running costs, the Rio boasts an ownership experience that is anything but. This is a compact hatchback that looks just as smart as its Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa rivals - while inside there's plenty of space, the cabin is really well made and there's lots of equipment. It's precise to drive too."
The recent win represents the second accolade of significance for the EcoDynamics model this year. The car also scooped CarBuyer's 2012 Green Car of the Year Award.
Head of Fleet & Remarketing at Kia Motors (UK) Ltd, John Hargreaves said:
"Low CO2 emissions are relevant to all our customers but with the imminent BIK tax changes, sub-100g/km levels, like those on all Rio 1.1 CRDi EcoDynamics, will become increasingly important to our business customers so I'm delighted that our environmental efforts have been recognised by Business Car Manager with this award."
The Kia Rio range is priced from £9,995 and the 1.1 CRDi EcoDynamics version is available from £11,895.
