Volkswagen are now taking orders for its new generation Jetta model.
UK deliveries for the revised Volkswagen Jetta, which debuted at the New York Auto Show in April, are scheduled to commence in December.
Styling changes have boosted the new Jetta’s aerodynamic efficiency by 10 per cent compared to its predecessor. This has been achieved by a revised front end with a new grille and bumper design, and a restyled rear featuring an aerodynamic lip on the boot lid, The rear end also features new tail lights and a reprofiled bumper. A redesigned interior features a variety of fresh trim as well as a new steering wheel,
BlueMotion Technology features include stop/start and battery energy recuperation as standard. New optional features include Blind Spot Detection with Rear Traffic Alert.
All engine options are EU6 emissions compliant, with a choice of two 1.4-litre petrol units, producing 123hp and 148bhp respectively. Both are available with a six-sped manual gearbox, while the latter has the option of a seven-speed DSG automatic. There are also two diesel engines to choose from, the first being a 109bhp 2.0-litre with a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic. The second diesel power option is also a 2.0-litre unit, but which produces 148bhp and comes with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre diesel, five-speed manual combo offers the greatest fuel economy in the Jetta range, returning 70.6mpg combined.
The new Volkswagen Jetta has three trim levels – S, SE, and GT- with standard equipment across the ange including DAB digital radio, electronic stability control, and air conditioning. SE trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels, lumbar support, Bluetooth connectivity, leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel, a multi-device interface, and cruise control. The GT model gets treated to additional interior ambient lighting, lowered sports suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, sports seats, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heat-insulating tinted rear glass, colour multi-function trip computer and driver alert system.
Prices for the new Volkswagen Jetta start from £18,815 for the 1.4-litre S with the six-speed manual gearbox, rising to £24,715 for the top-of-the-range 148bhp 2.0-litre GT TDI with six-speed DSG transmission.
