The iconic British spy James Bond is returning in a new novel, written by best-selling author Jeffery Deaver. As always he will be driving a top range luxury sports car in the new book, and this time it will be the new Bentley Continental GT.
The new James Bond novel written by Jeffery Deaver is to be called ‘Carte Blanche’, and will be published in the UK by Hodder and Stoughton on 26 May, just a few days before the anniversary of Ian Fleming’s birthday. Fleming was the original creator of the famous Bond series.
The author of the latest instalment in this famous series has been seen outside the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City alongside the Bentley Continental GT car that Bond drives in the book. Dubai is one of the main locations for the story.
Deaver, who has written 28 novels and sold more than 20m books around the world, is best known as the author of ‘The Bone Collector’. Commenting on the title of the new book the author said “In the world of espionage, giving an agent carte blanche on a mission comes with an enormous amount of trust and constantly tests both personal and professional judgement. Part of the nonstop suspense in the novel is the looming question of what is acceptable in matters of national and international security. Are there lines that even James Bond should not cross?”
When it comes to the car, Deaver could not have made a better choice for Bond. The new Continental GT comes with a 6.0-litre, W12, twin-turbo engine that is able to deliver 567bhp and torque of 516lb-ft. Painted in stunning white with a blood-red interior for the book, the Continental GT combines the sexy looks, high performances, agile handling, and high-tech gadgetry which Bond always enjoys from his cars.
Fleming himself would also surely have approved the choice, as he was a known admirer of Bentley during his lifetime, featuring Bentley cars in many of his original series of Bond novels.
