The Jaguar XF has been named as the Auto Express Driver Power ‘Car of the Decade’.

The Auto Express Driver Power Survey is celebrating its tenth year in 2011. The Driver Power survey collects a wide array of information on vehicle ownership from regular car owners, including everything from reliability to dealer service and design to handling. During the course of the decade more than 300,000 people have contributed their experiences and opinions and many hundreds of cars have been tested.

To celebrate the ten year landmark, this year's Driver Power survey includes a set of special awards which take into account responses collected throughout the whole time that the survey has been running. The most prestigious of these awards is the 'Car of the Decade' honour, which went to the Jaguar XF.

The award was presented to the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Dr. Ralf Speth and the Chief Programme Engineer for the XF, Andrew Whyman by Graham Hope, the Acting Editor of Auto Express at the firm's Castle Bromwich factory.

Dr. Speth commented on the award, saying:

"We are humbled by Jaguar owners voting in such a way to rate the XF as the number one car in the UK. It's a tremendous achievement for everyone in Jaguar - from the people here at Castle Bromwich who have been building the car since 2008 - to the engineers, the designers and the dealers. I am very proud to receive the award on their behalf."

37,000 units of the Jaguar XF have been sold in the UK since 2008. During that time regular improvements and upgrades have ensured that the XF has remained at the top of its game. The most recent generation of the XF went on sale on 1st September, and its 2.2-litre diesel engine provides a significant improvement in efficiency over previous models, and lower CO2 emissions of 149g/km.
