Images of Jaguar’s new XF Sportbrake have been unveiled ahead of its first official public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Slated for a September launch in the UK, the XF Sportbrake will cost between £2,000 and £3,000 more than the equivalent saloon.
This is the first estate car Jaguar has made since the old X-Type Estate and it is certainly cavernous; with the rear seats up the load space measures 550-litres, and is also framed by a set of convenient cubby compartments. The volume grows to 1,675 litres when the seats are folded.
The XF Sportbrake boasts new B-Pillar rearwards and panels. Running the length of the car is the extended strong silver signature line, and the C-Pillar is finished in gloss black - a feature shared with the XJ saloon.
Jaguar believe that the car combines both style and function with its slim rear light units that extend into a strong chrome cross member, and the fact that rear seat passengers benefit from 48mm of added rear headroom.
The XF Sportbrake features numerous practical touches and unique equipment fitted as standard. Features include remote fold levers to lower the rear seats and, while the boot is still open, powerful LEDs shine a pool of light onto the ground, while the tailgate has a soft close function to prevent a violent shut.
The XF Sportbrake will be available with a range of efficient but powerful diesel engines in 2.2-litre four cylinders and 3.0-litre six-cylinder form. No petrol versions will be made available.
Jaguar are expected to release information on pricing during the third quarter of 2012.
