Jaguar will use this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed to show off its new limited edition model.
The Project 7 has evolved from a concept car built by Jaguar last year and will now become a production model.
It is based on the F-Type and has been developed by the manufacturer’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team. The team have a remit to produce tuned up versions of production models and recreations of existing classics. The team will take standard F-Type Cabriolets from the Castle Bromwich factory line and use 150 engineers to transform them into Project 7s, the final product will cost £135,000.
It will have increased power and a completely new suspension set-up, the front of the car being 50% stiffer than the original F-Type. They will add 25bhp, allowing it to get to 60mph in 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 186mph. It will have 80kg of weight stripped from it by using large amounts of carbon fibre.
"Special Operations exists to develop a suite of products and services that enable our most discerning and enthusiastic customers to indulge their passion for our cars. F-TYPE Project 7 is a perfect example of one such product. It's the most powerful production Jaguar ever built, and pays homage to Jaguar's seven outright Le Mans victories with distinctive design cues inspired by the Jaguar D-type which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year." Said John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.
