Jaguar is launching new all-wheel drive versions of its XF and XJ models.
The all-wheel drive powertrain will be used exclusively with Jaguar's new supercharged 335bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic ZF gearbox.
The all-wheel drive system splits torque evenly between the axles; however, under normal conditions, most of the power will be sent to the rear wheels to maximise fuel efficiency. The suspension has also been tweaked to give the Jags the classic rear-wheel drive 'feel' on the road.
The 3.0-litre engine fitted to the new cars is designed to replace the firm's ageing 5.0-litre V8 and promises a 5% increase in fuel economy over the old model. This means that both the XF and the XJ should manage around 29mpg.
The new models will be offered to customers in North America, China, Russia and Europe, but unfortunately it's unlikely that the all-wheel drive Jags will make it to Britain.
