Infiniti has announced that prices for its new Q50 2.0-litre turbo petrol model will start from £31,755 when it goes on sale in Europe in the autumn.
The new Q50 features a lightweight 1991cc turbocharged four-cylinder petrol lump that develops 258lb-ft of torque and 208bhp, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Infiniti claims that the engine provides “flexible and efficient” driving, thanks to a wide torque band, which begins at 1,250rpm.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine joins the existing 2.2-litre direct injection turbodiesel engine in the Infiniti line-up, alongside the V6-powered hybrid models.
Infiniti claims that over the next five years it will increase its model range by 60 per cent and more than double the number of powertrains it offers.
The Infiniti Q50 was first revealed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and has already been launched in China. Infiniti will roll the car out across Europe later this year and launch it to the rest of its global markets by the end of 2014.
