Used car pricing and valuation data provider CAP has crowned the Nissan Qashqai its ‘Used Car of the Year’ for 2011.

It is the second year in succession that Nissan's crossover Qashqai model has picked up the accolade, with the judging panel commenting on its slow depreciation, and high desirability with both trade and public, as factors in their decision. Initially a niche model on its 2007 launch, the UK-designed and built Qashqai crossover now features highly on the UK best sellers list. The Qashai is powered by a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines, including a new lower emissions 1.6-litre diesel with stop-start technology.

Comprising of used car market and vehicle valuation experts, the judging panel's concluding statement on the Nissan Qashqai was that it had "prompted other manufacturers to follow by marrying the practicality of a people carrier with the looks of a quality 4x4. By achieving this in a package that also offers economy, handling, strong build quality and reliability the Qashqai has become the perfect used car for our time."

Delighted Nissan GB Managing Director Jim Wright responded to the announcement by saying, "The continuing success of the Qashqai in the new and used car markets proves that the British motor industry can produce a winner, even in the toughest market conditions."
