The 100% electric Mitsubishi I-MiEV has gone on European sale from today, the manufacturer has announced.

The all electric i-MiEV is now available in 15 countries across the European continent, including the UK where it is eligible for a £5,000 government Plugged-In Car Grant.

The i-MiEV began production for the European market in October, and in the three months since then Mitsubishi have shipped over around 2,500 units in readiness for its sale launch. In addition to the markets initially planned for the i-MiEV, Mitsubishi will be making the car available in Finland, Turkey, Serbia, and Slovenia in the near future. Mitsubishi claim this is in response to requests from their representatives in those markets to do so, and will bring the number of European countries in which the i-MiEV is sold to 19.
