Independent vehicle assessment organisation Euro NCAP, the main testing body for vehicle safety in Europe, has given the Hyundai Veloster its maximum rating of 5 stars.

The Hyundai Veloster 1+2 door sports coupe has won a five star safety rating from Euro NCAP, including best in class scores in some areas. In the 'adult occupant' category the Veloster was given a rating of 96%, with maximum points in both the side barrier test and the side pole test. Meanwhile in the 'child occupant' category the Hyundai Veloster managed a score of 89%. In the 'safety assist' category the car's score was lower, at 71%, but still high enough to win the top rating thanks to the electronic stability program and seatbelt reminder system.

Following hot on the heels of the i40, the last of the firm's cars to win a maximum safety rating, the Veloster is now the sixth Hyundai car to get five stars from Euro NCAP.

The Senior Vice President of Hyundai Motor Europe, Allan Rushforth, commented on the success saying:

"The five-star rating for Veloster further demonstrates our commitment to the highest levels of safety for Hyundai customers. Veloster is attracting a new audience to the Hyundai brand, combining practicality and 'fluidic' design in a unique 1+2 door package. Recognition of its class-leading safety performance will further add to its appeal."
