After the successful launch of the i10 Blue at the start of this year, Hyundai has now added a second sub 100g/km car to its range.
Hyundai has today announced that it is adding a new car to its line-up. The new i20 Blue will have CO2 emissions of 98g/km, making it the cleanest car in the Hyundai range.
The i20 Blue has been based on the 'Comfort' trim level of the current i20 and is fitted with the firm's 1.4-litre CRDi 89bhp engine. It will be priced at £13,195 OTR.
In order to achieve the low reading of 98g/km, which means that the new i20 Blue will be exempt from both VED and the London Congestion Charge, a range of Hyundai's 'Blue Drive' technologies have been added. These include low rolling resistance tyres, rear suspension under cover and rear wheel deflector, and Intelligent Stop & Go system. Compared to the i20 1.4 CRDi 89bhp Style, these efficiency technologies offer a 12% reduction in CO2 emissions, down from 111g/km to 98g/km.
Of course the same technologies also improve the fuel consumption levels as well. For the i20 Blue the combined cycle fuel consumption is 76.4mpg, which is a 14% improvement on the 'Style' trim model.
Aside from the efficiency measures, the i20 Blue has a modest but still reasonable equipment list which includes 15 inch alloy wheels, electric heated and folding door mirrors, remote central locking, air-con, steering wheel audio controls, USB and aux connections, and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with voice recognition.
The i20 Blue is available to buy now, and comes with Hyundai's Five Year Triple Car package, which includes a five year unlimited mile warranty as well as roadside assistance and annual vehicle health checks.
