Honda have developed a new generation of engines called “Earth Dreams Technology”, it has been revealed.
The announcement was made today by Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Company, at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The new range of engines boasts excellent performance and exceptional fuel efficiency, with Honda aiming to offer the best fuel economy in every category within 3 years.
Set for a late 2012 launch, the first engine in the range for Europe will be a 1.6-litre diesel. The first model to receive the smaller diesel engine will be Honda’s new Civic.
The 1.6-litre will be lighter than any other diesel engine of its size and boast CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km, which would qualify it for free road tax and leave it exempt from London’s Congestion Charge.
