The range-topping Honda CR-Z Mugen will go on sale in the UK next year, Honda has confirmed.

Honda's official tuning arm, Mugen, revealed the hot version of the CR-Z in May, and Honda has recently announced that the car will be sold here, with prices starting from £23,000.

The CR-Z Mugen gets the same 1.5-litre hybrid engine as the standard car; however, Mugen has widened the track, fitted stiffer springs, re-mapped the ECU and bolted on a supercharger, bringing the power up to 197bhp.

This means 0-62mph will take 6.1 seconds -- over 3 seconds faster than the standard model.

On the outside, the Mugen gets a new bodykit, a new grille, a rear diffuser and a colossal roof spoiler. In addition to this, lowered suspension, 17-inch alloys and a sports exhaust are also fitted as standard.

The CR-Z is due to go on sale in February 2013.
