Ford is planning a revival of the S1600 badge with improved styling and a bucketload of power.
The good news is the new version will be powered by a 1.6 litre engine that ranges from 118bhp to 132bhp, which is capable of a 0-62 time of just 8.2 seconds, 1.7 seconds quicker than the normal version.
The new release retains the looks of the previous S1600 with a rear spoiler and diffuser, as well as extended side skirts and 17 inch alloy wheels. Customers have a choice of two colours, Performance Blue and Frozen White that come with motorsport stripes. The interior features a leather steering wheel as well as leather seats, and branded mats and scuff plates.
The new model is on offer at £15,895, £650 less than the older S1600. However it is £1,500 cheaper than the Zetec S. A turbocharged 1.6 litre will be on sale in 2012.
