Good news for sufferers of triskaidekaphobia: the DVLA is allowing superstitious drivers to avoid having the number 13 on their car when they buy a new motor next March.

The DVLA is allowing motorists with an irrational fear of the number 13 to opt for the earlier 62-plate when buying a car between 1st March and 31st August 2013. After this, the system will revert back to normal, with the 62-plates appearing in September 2013.

However, if you're the sort of deluded moron who might actually be considering this, there is a problem. When you come to try and sell your car, potential buyers will naturally assume the car is a 2012 model, not a 2013, and you might find that the car is worth less as a result.
