Citroen has been honoured with a Car Design News Award at the Geneva Motor Show.

The latest addition to the DS Range, the DS5 model won 'Design of the Year - Production Car' titles for both its design and concept.

Announced at the Geneva International Motor Show, an event which has showcased many innovative vehicles, the model ran ahead of its rival, the Lamborghini Aventador, to win the design accolades.

The DS5 earned a quarter of the total 4,000 votes cast, and won the 'Car Design of the Year' to further boost the range's image.

The win is a sign of the firm's extensive development in the field of hybrid technology, according to Marc Raven, Communications Director at Citroën, "DS5 is the embodiment of distinctive design, so to have this recognition from an international automotive design community is tribute to the work of its creative team."

Andy Cowell, DS5's Design Manager describes it as 'a hybrid in a tailored suit' - just the sort of bold statement that is helping DS5 capture the hearts and minds of industry peers, press and the public."

Owen Ready, Editor of Car Design News, commented, "The Car Design News Car Design of the Year Award is voted for by car design professionals making this a rare opportunity for those in the industry to show their appreciation for the work of their peers. It's easy to see why Citroën DS5's design attracted almost a quarter of the votes in the production car category."
