Renault is celebrating the latest sales figures which show its brands are continuing to enjoy a successful 2014.
Top of the French manufacturer’s list of reasons to be cheerful is the growth of its budget Dacia range, with year-to-date sales of the brand up by almost 70 per cent compared to 2013. A total of 15,060 Dacia’s have been sold so far this year, compared to 8,872 for the same period last year, an increase in sales of 69.8 per cent.
The Renault Group as a whole has been experiencing something of a resurgence, with sales growth of 63.2 per cent so far in 2014 having sold 63,717 vehicles. The manufacturer now enjoys a 3.7 per cent share of the UK car market, and its growing popularity has seen it set a new record by out-performing the market’s overall growth for the past sixteen months in a row.
Renault brand cars sold 1,587 units last month, with the New Clio hatchback and Captur crossover models the two most popular. Renault vans are selling strongly too, with the 10,918 sold in 2014 so far representing an increase of 58.2 per cent over last year, and with the all-new Trafic due for a showroom launch next month the manufacturer is hoping for this upturn to continue.
Ken Ramirez, Managing Director, Renault UK Ltd, said: "The outstanding Group growth results, fuelled by the success of the new Clio and Captur crossover for Renault and the clear value of the Dacia line-up, definitively signal the confidence in the franchise's sustainable growth plan. With fantastic new products like the recently-launched all-new Renault Trafic and all-new Renault Twingo - totalling nine new models launched in less than two years, of which six are completely new badges in the market including four in our new brand Dacia - we're confident the Renault Group will continue its sustainable growth in the coming months and years.”
