MINI’s new One D Countryman has scooped the Best Crossover of 2011 award from car buyers' guide Parkers.

Over 5,500 MINI Countrymans have been ordered since the model was first introduced to the MINI range last September. It now accounts for just under 30% of all new MINIs ordered in the UK, with the Cooper D variant proving the most popular so far in 2011.

The MINI One D Countryman is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine. This returns a combined fuel economy of 64mpg, and boasts road tax of just £30 per year as a result of its low CO2 emissions figures. Prices for the MINI Countryman range start at £16,340.

"The MINI One D Countryman won because it carries the traits of the MINI, including fun handling and mixes in four-wheel drive and a huge dose of practicality thanks to the Countryman's larger size," said Parkers editor Kieren Puffett.
