This is the new SRT Viper Time Attack, a new track-focussed limited edition version of the SRT Viper which will be unveiled at the New York Motor Show later this month.
The first thing you'll notice about the SRT Viper TA is that retina-incinerating orange paint job. Thankfully, Chrysler has given the paint colour a suitably menacing name -- 'Crusher Orange' -- to match the Viper's impressive performance credentials.
Underneath the bonnet, the TA is fitted with the same engine as the standard SRT Viper: an 8.4-litre V10 which, fact fans, is the largest displacement engine in current production. Power stands at 640bhp and torque at 600lb-ft, giving a predicted 0-62mph time of just over three seconds and a top speed in the vicinity of 206mph.
SRT's engineers have also been busy tweaking the Viper's suspension and brakes. The TA gets uprated springs, a modified Bilstein Damptronic system and improved anti-roll bars. In addition to this, a carbon-fibre engine brace cuts weight and increases torsional rigidity, while new 'Sidewinder II' alloy wheels reduce unsprung mass.
The brakes are improved versions of the standard Viper's Brembo anchors, with increased thermal capacity to prevent fade when you're giving the car a trackday bashing.
A new carbon-fibre front splitter and rear spoiler are also fitted as standard.
Only 33 SRT Viper TAs will be built, and production begins in Detroit in the autumn.
