Kia has lost the right to use the Quoris name on its European models, following a dispute with the Chinese car brand Qoros.

This means that the South Korean manufacturer will have to rename its BMW 7 Series-sized saloon if it plans to sell the car within the European Union. However Kia says it has no plans to introduce the Quoris, which has already been officially nominated for the 2013 World Car of the Year Award, to the European market.

If you haven't heard of Qoros, you're not alone. The company was formed back in 2007 as part of a joint venture between the Chinese Chery Automobile and the Israel Corporation. Qoros will make its European debut at next year's Geneva Motor Show where the brand plans to launch a new car. Understandably, the firm was not too keen on an established manufacturer launching a car with a similar name.

More details on the new Qoros model will be revealed closer to the Geneva Motor Show.
