If there's one thing the Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG doesn't need, it's more power. The stock 550bhp 5.5-litre V8 in the GL63 propels the car from 0-62mph in under five seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. It is, in short, a very, very fast car.
However, that hasn't stopped German tuning company Brabus from trying to make the GL63 a little bit more powerful, a little bit faster and a little bit more ostentatious.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Brabus B63-620 Widestar, and it's not a car you're likely to lose in the supermarket car park.
Underneath the bonnet you'll find the same engine fitted to the GL63; however, Brabus has tweaked the engine's ECU, raising the power output from 550bhp to 611bhp in the process. As a result, the Brabus will hit 62mph in 4.7 seconds -- 0.2 seconds quicker than the GL63 -- and hit 174mph.
Brabus has even fitted a new stainless steel exhaust system which includes a butterfly valve that can be opened and shut via a button on the steering wheel to increase engine volume.
Styling-wise, Brabus has fitted a new bodykit which includes new bumpers, a roof spoiler and massive air intakes. The car has also been lowered by 30mm and sits on colossal 23-inch wheels surrounded by extended arches.
On the inside, the Brabus gets leather and Alcantara upholstery and stainless steel backlit scuff plates which feature the Brabus logo.
Prices have yet to be revealed, but considering that the standard GL63 AMG will set you back £91,715, we're not expecting it to be cheap.
