With a powerful engine, nimble handling and athletic design the BMW Z4 has already had a huge amount of success in the premium roadster class, leading this segment of the car market in both 2009 and 2010, but now it is to be improved even further with a new engine.
Sometime towards the end of this year the BMW Z4 is to be given a new engine, called the BMW Z4sDrive28i. This new 2.0-litre engine with TwinPower Turbo technology will provide the car with improved performance, and a substantial reduction in fuel consumption.
The new supercharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, featuring an all-aluminium crankcase, can already be seen in the BMW X1 xDrive28i, and with a power output of 240bhp it will deliver more torque, higher performance, and better fuel efficiency than the current 6-cylinder induction engine on the BMW Z4 sDrive30. With BMW's unique TwinPower Turbo charger it will combine High Precision Injection with a turbocharger powered via two exhaust ducts. Other features include a variable camshaft control system and a fully variable valve control system.
A full set of figures for the engine and driving performance of the new BMW roadster are expected to be released around the middle of the year.
