BMW has released further details of the latest incarnation of its M6 Coupe and Convertible.
14,000 previous generation M6s found homes worldwide, and BMW hopes to continue the trend with the latest flagship examples of the 6-series range, as despite gaining in power and speed, the new models are also cleaner and 30% more fuel-efficient than the models they replace.
The V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine has been updated to provide 560bhp, and propels both the M6 Coupe and M6 Convertible to a top speed of 155mph. The M6 Coupe, with its lightweight carbon-fibre roof, will do 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds, with the convertible taking just 0.1 of a second longer to achieve the same target. The new M6 Coupe has a combined fuel economy of 28.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 232g/km, while its Convertible sibling will return 27.4mpg with 239g/km of CO2 emissions. BMW has aimed for, and claims to have got near, a 50:50 weight distribution on the new M6 which should result in a car with excellent driving dynamics.
