The new BMW i3 all-electric city car will cost £25,680 when it goes on sale later this month.
Priced by BMW at £30,680, the new i3 is available at £25,680 thanks to the Government's £5,000 electric vehicle grant. This puts it in the same price bracket as a top-spec Nissan LEAF.
BMW has also announced that the i3 will be available on a contract hire deal, which allows customers to get behind the wheel for a deposit of £2,995, followed by a monthly payment of £369. The contract last for three years and has an annual mileage limit of 8,000 miles.
The i3 is BMW's first fully-electric production car and is made from a blend of aluminium and carbon-fibre. From launch the i3 will be available in fully-electric guise only; however, a range-extender hybrid model is in the pipeline. Pricing details for the range-extender model have yet to be confirmed.
Details of equipment and trim levels have yet to be confirmed. Order books will open towards the end of this month and the first deliveries are expected in October.
