BMW has given its X1 compact crossover a facelift. The new car gets revised external styling, a redesigned interior and a lower starting price.
The X1 range remains largely unchanged and the sDrive18d and xDrive18d are still fitted with 141bhp and 181bhp 2.0-litre diesel engines, respectively. The 20d's 2.0-litre diesel engine also remains unchanged. However, the old 23d has been replaced by the 25d which features a new 214bhp 2.0-litre diesel unit - a 12bhp improvement over the old 23d. This means 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds, a combined 48mpg and CO2 emissions of 154g/km.
On the outside, the X1 features a new headlamp design, new foglamp surrounds and new alloy wheels. Two new model lines have also been added to the car, the xLine and the Sport. All xLine models come with bigger bumpers and skirts, 18-inch alloys, a leather steering wheel and a silver grille. The Sport models also get bigger bumpers, gloss black grille and tailpipes, new alloys and an anthracite interior with red stitching.
Prices start from £24,660 and the new BMW X1 goes on sale in July. For those interested in all the technical specs and prices, the table below shows the manufacturer's figures for the new BMW X1 range.
