The expansion of the BMW 1 Series range has come in the shape of three new engines and an M Sport trim package for the mini BMW.
The three new engines are made up of two diesel units and one petrol unit. The 125d, the more powerful of the diesel engines produces 218bhp and does 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, thanks to its 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine. It may come as a surprise then when you learn that it is also a relatively economic car, getting you 58.9mpg.
The 125d is not as economic as the 116d though, an 116bhp, 1.6 litre engine car which boasts fuel economy of 74.4mpg. This notable addition to the range also has very low CO2 emissions at a mere 99g/km, but not surprisingly, it is not quite as quick off the mark as the 125d with a 0-62mph time of 10.5 seconds.
The only petrol arrival of the three new engines is the 125i, which does 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds, making it the range’s fastest car. It has a 2.0 litre turbo charged engine and, like its diesel counterpart, produces 218bhp.
The newly available M Sport package will transform the 1 series with its bodykit, lowered suspension (by 10mm), M Sport alloys, and those M badges dotted around the interior, making it an object of desire for those who favour the sporty look.
