At the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards held yesterday in Thatcham, Berkshire, Audi cars won trophies in a total of 5 categories. This represents the sixth year of success for the company in these awards, and proves its strong commitment to security.
With victories from new and existing cars, Audi enjoyed a strong performance at the recent British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards, in which industry experts asses cars using the 'New Vehicle Security Rating', or NVSR process. This system awards star ratings to cars based on 'theft of' and 'theft from' protection.
Audi winners include the A1 premium sub-compact, which added a win in the City Car/Supermini category to its already impressive list of awards. The A8 L W12 quattro also won in the performance car category.
The other Audi winners, all of which have been winners in previous years, were the A5 Cabriolet, Q5 compact SUV, and the A4 Saloon. This year's total of 5 category wins means that Audi has walked away with a highly impressive 20 category wins since the awards were first held in 2006.
The award winning security of Audi's cars is attained through the inclusion of features such as Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser technology, which includes anti-tow sensors and ultrasonic interior protection, as well as Thatcham Category 4 locking wheel nuts and an extensive range of marked parts.
Jeremy Hicks, the Director of Audi UK, said that he was delighted at the company's sixth year of success in the security awards, and that he was especially pleased with the award for the A1, commenting that "We are always at pains to emphasise that our approach to bringing a sub-compact hatchback to market was just as uncompromising on every level as it would be for any other Audi model, and this award stands as further irrefutable proof of that fact."
The Vehicle Security Manager at Thatcham, Mike Briggs, also commented on Audi's success, saying that "With more outright category wins than any other manufacturer, and pushing very close for the overall manufacturer award, Audi has once again proved that it is at the top of its game when it comes to vehicle security across the whole range of vehicles, from City Car right through to Luxury. It's an excellent achievement and Audi thoroughly deserves all its plaudits."
