Audi have revealed a new high-performance version of their perennially popular TT, the TT RS plus.
The big news is that Audi have been fiddling with the TT RS's 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine and have managed to extract an extra 20bhp from it. The RS plus will therefore develop 355bhp and 343lb-ft of torque. Buyers will have a choice of a six-speed manual 'box or Audi's seven-speed S-tronic transmission. With the S-tronic gearbox, the TT RS plus will get from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and will keep on accelerating up to 174mph.
The RS plus, like all TTs, is incredibly light - just 1,450kg - thanks to its Audi Space Frame (ASF) body which is made out of a blend of steel and aluminium. Because of this, the TT RS plus will deliver impressive economy figures, with the coupe model managing 33.2mpg (combined).
On the outside, the RS plus gets 19" titanium-look alloy wheels, a matte aluminium surround to the radiator grille and carbon fibre-reinforced polymer door mirrors and tailpipe trims. The RS plus is also well kitted out, coming as standard with sat-nav, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.
Audi will open the order books for the RS plus in May with the first deliveries expected sometime over the summer. Prices will range from £48,945 for the manual coupe, rising to £52,265 for the Roadster with the S-tronic gearbox.
