Audi has just launched a new bi-turbo V6 TDI engine available for the Audi A6 Saloon and A7 Sportback models, priced from £43,810 OTR and from £51,645 OTR respectively.
Audi boast that the new engine is the most powerful six-cylinder diesel engine they have ever offered.
The new diesel engine sits above the existing single-turbo 201bhp and 241bhp versions of the 3.0 TDI already featured in the A6 and A7 Sportback ranges.
The new V6 is equipped with a two-stage turbocharger that can deliver a maximum boost pressure of up to 3.2 bar, which means that the A6 3.0 BiTDI quattro Saloon reaches 62mph in an impressive 5.1 seconds. The Audi A6 Avant and A7 Sportback vehicles reach 62mph in 5.3 seconds.
The Audi A6 Avant, the A6 Saloon and the A7 Sportback are all equipped with Audi in-car features that include satellite navigation linked to a 6.5-inch retractable colour monitor, and Milano leather upholstery.
All models are also equipped with the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system, which controls throttle response, transmission shift points and steering feel.
Additional features in these popular Audi models include the Audi parking system plus, light and rain sensors, cruise control and keyless go push-button engine ignition.
In 2011 Audi sold 113,703 models in the UK, a 14 per cent increase on 2010 and the new engine is part of ambitious plans that Audi have for growth in the years to come. The manufacturer, famous for the slogan Vorsprung durch Technik plans to invest €11.6 billion in developing new products between 2011 and 2015. By 2015 Audi are looking to expand from the 39 models available today to a total of 42.
New additions planned include the new generation A4 and A5 and the Q3 compact SUV, as well as the launch later this year of Audi’s first fully electric range: the A1 Sportback and the R8 e-tron.
