Prepare to drool as Aston Martin unveils the new V12 Vantage Roadster.
The Roadster is fitted with the same 6.0-litre V12 engine used in the coupe, mated to a proper six-speed manual gearbox; there's none of your flappy-paddle nonsense here. The engine produces 510bhp and 420lb-ft of torque and propels the Vantage from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 190mph.
Although the V12's drivetrain is largely unchanged, Aston has been fiddling around with the car's chassis and suspension to make sure that the Roadster is as good to drive as the Coupe is and it gets a modified rear damper set-up, tuned damper valves and a new rear spring design. Aston has also tweaked the V12's aerodynamics with a lower front air intake and a new boot lid design which is claimed to improve the car's high speed stability.
The V12 Vantage Roadster also features a host of new styling features including carbon-fibre side strakes, a carbon-fibre front splitter and rear diffuser, carbon-fibre mirror caps, carbon-fibre rear lamp infills, and a new design of alloy wheel. Inside, the V12 gets new glass switches and buyers can also opt for a package which includes a carbon-fibre fascia and gearshift surround.
All V12 Vantage models also come with a 'Sport' button which enables the driver to switch between 'Normal' and 'Sport' modes. Sport mode sharpens up the throttle response and does something to the exhaust (I'm not a mechanic, as you can probably tell) which makes the car louder. Nice.
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is available to order now, with prices starting from £150,000.
