In the current economic climate, success stories are rare. However, Alfa Romeo seems to be resisting the recession and experienced the largest percentage sales increase of all manufacturers during March.

According to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Alfa Romeo reported a 66.35% increase in sales compared to March 2010, whereas the overall industry saw sales fall by 7.8% over the same period.

Alfa’s figures for the first quarter of 2011 seem gratifying as 60.4% more cars were sold during this period than the same period in 2010.

The big selling Alfas are the MiTo and Giulietta and it remains to be seen whether Alfa Romeo can sustain this dramatic improvement.
