Alfa Romeo has released a new MultiJet diesel engine which will find its way under the bonnet of the Giulietta hatchback.

Alfa claims that the new turbocharged engine is ideal for company car drivers and private owners who require low fuel consumption and running costs twinned with comfort.

The new diesel engine will produce 119g/km of CO2 and return 62.8mpg when it is installed in the Giulietta. It will also propel the car from 0-62mph in 9 seconds and on to a top speed of 127mph.

Alfa have achieved this by using the latest common-rail technology and the company claims that the new car will offer class-leading refinement due to a new engine management system.
