The UK car market grew by 0.03% last month compared to January 2011, but Kia have released figures showing that their sales grew by a whopping 38% over the same period last year.

Kia sold 4,282 new vehicles in the first month of this year, with both the retail and fleet markets seeing growth. The figures are being attributed to the new Picanto and new Rio which Kia launched last year, and with other new releases on the horizon the manufacturer is hoping for a record year on the UK market.

Michael Cole, Managing Director, Kia Motors (UK) Limited said, "With the recent launch of the Optima, we have brought all-new A-, B- and D-segment cars to the UK market in under eight months. With all-new cee'd, our C-segment family car, set to be unveiled at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show we're predicting that 2012 will be Kia's best ever year in the UK."
