A driver caught travelling at 180mph in a police chase on the M6 has been sent to prison for nine years.

Ben Westwood, 33, of Wednesfield, West Midlands, was chased by police for 65 miles along the M6 in January in a stolen Audi RS5 (similar to the one shown above) at speeds of up to 180mph. Westwood almost managed to outpace the police helicopter which was following him from above.

Westwood has been found guilty of dangerous driving and conspiracy to burgle and steal.

The Audi RS5 was stolen from Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire last August and has since been linked to 16 raids across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

Four other men were also sent to prison for their role in the robberies.
