Vauxhall Mokka Overview
The Mokka is available with both two- and four-wheel drive and comes with a choice of three engines: a 113bhp 1.6-litre petrol, a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol developing 138bhp, and Vauxhall's perennial 1.7-litre diesel producing 128bhp.
The Mokka is surprisingly comfortable for a pseudo-offroader thanks to good suspension that is neither too soft nor too firm. The steering, however, is very vague and the Mokka is no fun to drive, especially with the underpowered 1.6-litre petrol engine.
There is plenty of space inside the Mokka for five adults and all-round visibility for the driver is excellent thanks to the raised seating position. There is also plenty of space in the boot, making the Mokka a very practical family car. The dashboard is a little confusing -- there are too many buttons -- but the whole interior feels well screwed together, if a little drab.
Background
The Mokka was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It's Vauxhall's first offering in the small crossover market and is the first off-roader introduced by the GM subsidiary since the Antara in 2006.
Summary
The Mokka is a typical Vauxhall -- competent, but more than a little boring. However, if you can get past the dull interior and the lacklustre handling, you'll find a decent small 4x4 and a comfortable, practical family motor.
