Ssangyong Korando Car Reviews

The SsangYong Korando is Ssangyong’s small 4x4 model which has been in and out of production throughout its life. It is possibly Ssangyong’s best car to date and has received quite a lot of positive feedback for the somewhat estranged brand.

Ssangyong Korando Overview

The current model comes with a number of choices to make; it can either come with front or four wheel drive, engine choices are however limited as it can only come with a 2.0 litre turbodiesel. The front wheel drive model offers a better fuel economy and better CO2 emissions than its front wheel variant.

The SsangYong Korando was put into production in 1983 and was originally produced by Geohwa Company before it was taken over by SsangYong’s predecessor; Dong-A-Motor.

The second generation model was put into production in 1996 and featured a choice of a 2.3 litre or 3.2 litre gasoline engine, or a 2.9 litre diesel variant. The 2004 model year saw the arrival of the third generation model which was essentially an updated version of the second generation model.

The fourth generation SsangYong Korando began production in late 2010 and has been reviewed as a much better looking car than previous SsangYong models. There are still a number of improvements that could be made to help improve SsangYong’s image, they are however clearly moving in the right direction.

The Korando offers a decent drive, looks as good as many of its rivals and is a step in the right direction for SsangYong. It may still struggle against its rivals in terms of performance and general quality.
