Renault Twizy Overview

The Twizy’s battery takes around three and a half hours to completely charge, and is compatible with the standard household electrical supply (220V 10A) as well as the roadside charging facilities. It has a range of 62 miles on a full battery.

The Renault Twizy is part of Renault Z.E range, which is an effort to end the ‘myth’ that electric cars are too expensive, unsafe and take decades to charge.

Background

The little Twizy is still very new to the scene. It began as a concept in 2009 with a production version not announced until 2011. It went on sale in the UK in 2012 and comes in the form of three different models.

There is the Urban model, the Technic model and the Urban 45 model with the main difference between the Urban and the Urban 45 being the engines. The Technic features extra design elements.

The car is aimed at those who want to whip around the city without damaging the environment, it is probably not the best car for long commutes or road trips.

Summary

The Renault Twizy is Renaults answer to the electric car. It is a very small and can struggle to seat two. It is surprisingly fun to drive and takes corners with ease; it is a fine piece of engineering however it simply doesn’t seem like a vehicle that could replace your typical car.
