The 208 is a vast improvement over the shonky old 207. Not only does it look great, but it comes with a good range of engines and a high-quality cabin. It's just a pity it isn't more fun to drive.
Peugeot 208 Overview
The petrol engines provide an excellent balance between performance and fuel economy. The diesels, however, deliver the most impressive figures in terms of running costs, all emitting under 99g/km of CO2 to qualify for free road tax and performing at up to 83mpg.
The Peugeot 208 boasts light and easy steering when driving in the city, which becomes sharper at higher speeds. The engine is very well refined, even at motorway speeds, while wind and road noise are also kept to a minimum inside the cabin. Body control could be better, however, as the rear end of the car is a little sluggish to follow the fast-turning front wheels.
The 208 is blessed with a comfortable cabin and a driving seat which is very adjustable. Legroom is plentiful throughout the interior, although rear headroom certainly leaves a little to be desired.
The model boasts a touch-screen infotainment system, although the usability of it is not up to the standards set by those in rival vehicles.
