Mini Roadster Overview

Despite the lack of rear seats, there is plenty of space inside the MINI Roadster. Sports seats, air-con, digital radio and parking sensors are all included as standard. The suspension is firmer than it is in the MINI Hatch and drivers may be put off by this.

On the plus side, the Roadster has a fairly impressive boot, with 240-litres of space on offer. It should also be relatively cheap to buy and run, undercutting both the Mazda MX-5 and the Audi TT in terms of price. All models will return over 38.7mpg and the Cooper diesel manages an impressive 62mpg.

In terms of the driving experience, it's business as usual. All of the engines are good and the Roadster handles with all the poise and agility we've come to expect from MINI.

Background

The MINI Roadster was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept, with the production model being unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.

Summary

It's pricier than the MINI Convertible; however, if you can get past the price and the firm suspension, you'll find very little to dislike about the topless MINI.
