The Mercedes R-Class has been in production since 2005.

The model is a 5-door estate and comes with a range of available V6 and V8 engines, complemented by a 7-speed automatic transmission. The R63 AMG, with a 6.2 litre V8 engine, can accelerate from 0 – 60mph in less than 5 seconds and top out at an impressive 155mph.

The line-up was refreshed in 2007, with rear-wheel drive variants now on offer and new engines available.
The R-Class scores "Good" in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) front crash test and “Acceptable” in the side impact crash test. This side impact crash test rating was rated as “Good”, however, after a 2009 update to the R-Class featuring modified seatbelts and a modified interior door trim.

The model again received a minor update in 2011.
