Mazda 5 Overview

Unsurprisingly for a car that can carry seven people, there’s a decent amount of space inside the Mazda 5, both for passengers and luggage. As with many Mazdas, the build quality of the car is good, although the materials used inside the cabin could be better.

The Mazda5 represents good value for money, and would make an excellent family vehicle, both for small families and larger ones.

Background

The first generation Mazda5 was introduced in 1999 and production continued until 2004. It was available with either front or all-wheel drive, and with several engines and transmissions.

The car was easy to drive, and the second and third row seats could be folded down and removed.

The second generation of the car was first produced in 2005. The exterior was an improvement over its predecessor, and more engine choices were made available.

The third generation debuted in 2010 and has been in production since 2011. This model received revised styling, marketed by Mazda as Nagare and Furai concepts. In Europe the new Mazda5 is offered with either a 1.8-litre four-cylinder or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with direct-injection and Mazda’s i-stop technology. This technology will reduce emissions by 15%.

Summary

The Mazda5 is a stylish MPV that works well as a family car, equipped with space and durability in equal measure.
