The Lexus RX was first introduced in 1998, with several engines available and all sporting automatic transmissions. The interior included leather seats, wood trim, and individual reclining and sliding rear seats. A 7-sepaker sound system was also standard.
The model was updated in 2000, featuring a luxury trimmed steering wheel, a DVD-based navigation system and tow hitch receiver. In addition, Vehicle Stability Control became standard.
2003 saw the arrival of the second generation Lexus RX, which featured a 5-speed automatic transmission and a newer, sleeker body style. It was also equipped with a bigger engine – 3.3 litres – and available as front or all-wheel drive.
