Citroen C Zero Car Reviews

The C-Zero is Citroen’s first production fully electric vehicle. It is a five door hatchback, powered by a 47-kilowatt electric motor, which provides strong acceleration up to urban speeds that may surprise many other motorists. There is also no gearbox to speak of, with only a drive, reverse and park setting, so it is simple to drive. Unfortunately, as is the nature of current electric vehicles, the lithium-ion batteries are only capable of a range of just shy of 100 miles before they need charging.

Citroen C Zero Overview

The cars tall stance means that it is subject to quite significant wind noise at relatively low speeds, however since it is generally designed to be a city car; this shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Aside from the wind, there is almost no noise from the electric motor, aside from a whir when travelling at higher speeds.

Inside there is enough room for four, and although legroom in the rear may not be the best, it is as good as most other city cars. The cars tall body means headroom isn’t an issue for any passengers, and since the batteries are housed under the cabin floor, it gives the driver a high seating position and good visibility. The layout of the dials is similar to any other car, with the battery meter being styled like a fuel gage, and the drive selector being reminiscent to a standard automatic gearbox.

Background

The Citroen C-Zero is a 5-door hatchback developed by Mitsubishi and rebadged for the European market as both the Peugeot iOn and Citroen C-Zero. It is an electric version of the Mitsubishi i and was first made available in the UK in 2011.

Summary

The Citroen C-Zero is an electric city car that is pushing forward the viability of electric vehicles. It is an ideal town run about, but due to its relatively short range, it is likely that it would not be suitable for much more than that.
