Aston Martin Virage Car Reviews

The Virage is thought of as the model that can bridge the gap between the DB9 and the DBS. It is sharper than the DB9, but not as aggressive as the flagship DBS. It comes with the same 6.0 litre V12 engine and has ceramic breaks fitted as standard.

Aston Martin Virage Overview

Similarly to the DB9, it can come with a 2+2 seating formation, with the back seats again being very small and more suitable for children than adults.  There is the option, however, to remove the rear seats, which will increase the luggage space supplementing a decent sized boot, for a car of this type.  As with the DB9 it is available as both a coupe and volante (convertible).

The adjustable suspension settings make it easy to switch between a firmer sport mode, and a more comfortable, softer normal setting, ideal for cruising. In addition to making long journeys bearable, the adjustable suspension enables you to get the most out of the handling that this car offers, when you really want to test it in sport mode.

As you would expect from any car with a 6.0 litre V12, it’s not the cheapest car to run. High road tax, insurance and servicing want help either, but if you can afford this car in the first place it’s unlikely that any of these factors will be an issue.

Background

The Virage was first introduced in 1989 as a replacement for the V8 model that had been in production since 1969. It was a large heavy car, but with a 5.3 litre V8 that pushed its performance up to sports car standards.

Production of the Virage stopped in 1995 until its 2011 revival. The 2011 model is designed to be more of a performance car, with precise handling and rapid acceleration. Built to sit between the DBS and DB9, it has adopted features of each, such as the wider track from the DBS, but the refinement of the DB9. This will make it appeal to more consumers, who want the performance but don’t want to have to live with a racier car every day.

Summary

The Virage is a beautifully designed supercar, that provides the delicate handling and hair raising speed of the DBS, but with all the refinement of the DB9.
