If you are looking for a sports car that looks great, handles great and outshines other cars on the road, then the Aston Martin Vantage V8 could be the car for you. With a sporty yet sophisticated look, beautiful interiors and James Bond’s sign of approval, the car delivers performance and safety in a stylish package.

PROS:  The Vantage V8 looks and behaves like a quality sports car. Along with a gorgeous exterior, the car enjoys an excellent reliability record, good dealer service and high resale values.

CONS:  The car is quite a handful and has firm heavy controls. There are few visibility issues due to the car's low ride height, which makes manoeuvring difficult when driving around angled junctions.

Behind the Wheel

The 4.7 litre V8 engine delivers electric performance, producing 420 bhp at 7000 rpm with torque figures at 346 lb-ft at 5750 rpm. At 20.4 mpg, the car has poor fuel economy, but with a top speed of 180 mph and going from 0-62 mph in an impressive 4.8 seconds, it provides the ideal thrill of a sports car.

The V8 is agile and handles bumpy roads well. There is little road noise on most surfaces, with the engine note nothing more than a background murmur when cruising. Flooring the throttle makes the engine growl beautifully, a signature attribute of any good sports car.

Looks & Equipment

The V8 delivers the style and sophistication of the Aston Martin brand in its sporty shape and elegant interiors. The car is fitted with climate control, a six-CD multi-changer, big alloy wheels, electrically adjustable seats, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, rear parking sensors, MP3 connectivity and a CD player system. Cruise control, Bluetooth, and satellite navigation come at additional prices. Optional features for the car include premium hi-fi systems and various interior finishes. Customers have the rare option of personalising the Vantage anyway they want.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Vantage is a very comfortable car for two average sized adults. The car has a spacious 300-litre boot which is more than adequate for luggage for long travel and holidays. The cabin does not have much space for oddments.

With a Euro NCAP rating of 4 out of 5, the car comes with a limited safety kit, including stability control and electronic break-force distribution. Car owners also have the option to install a Tracker system to help trace the car should it be stolen.

The Vantage has a three year warranty with unlimited miles, and enjoys the strong reliability record of the Aston Martin brand.

Inevitably with a car of this type, it has poor green credentials with a EURO 4 emissions rating, and a heavy carbon footprint of 328 g/km.

Value for Money

The Vantage is priced at £90,895 and will inevitably have high running costs, however, it is a worthy investment for sports car lovers who seek the prestige of the Aston Martin brand. Be it comfortable travel around town or the thrill of speed on a long highway, the Vantage V8 delivers the sports car experience with excellent style, quality, performance and reliability, similar to other sports cars in the Aston Martin line like the DBS and the Virage.

The car's stylish looks, powerful drive, and high value brand consistently grant it high resale values.
